Is Gillette sold in China?
Yes Gillette sells products in mainland China. You can see P&G’s policy on selling products in markets where regulatory bodies can test on animals.
And selling imported cosmetics in China still puts products at risk of being tested on animals in pre or post market.
Whilst we cannot now claim that countries involved in selling products in China can be cruelty-free, China’s animal testing policy is no longer as black and white is it seemed.

Many products contain animal derived ingredients and the bottle manufacturing process uses some animal-derived products in the manufacturing process, as well as the razor handle molding

Gillette is owned by P&G – Procter & Gamble – an American multinational consumer goods corporation who also own brands like: Head & Shoulders, Herbal Essences, Joy & Glee, Olay, Aussie and Fairy.
No Gillette isn’t certified cruelty-free by any organisations because the brand is complicit in cosmetic animal testing.
By both selling products in markets where animal testing can be mandated by law and working with suppliers who test on animals on the brand’s behalf.
No Gillette isn’t Leaping Bunny certified as it is not cruelty-free. Gillette features in PETA’s ‘does test on animals’ database.
Gillette inherits Procter & Gamble’s animal testing policy. One that claims that the brand doesn’t test products on animals or ask third parties to test ingredients or products on its behalf.
But it admits to selling products in markets where it is required by law.
Not all of Gillette’s packaging is made from recyclable materials.
The new Planet Kind range’s razor handle and product packaging are made with recycled plastic and paper or recyclable aluminum. And refillable razors are made from 100% recyclable materials. But the rest of the brand’s products are not primarily recyclable.
No Gillette is not paraben-free. Whilst Gillette has launched a new range called Planet Kind – which is made without parabens, SLS and dyes – the rest of its products contain parabens, sulfates and other synthetic preservatives.
Gillette is not a palm oil free brand.
Whilst its parent company – P&G – has partnered with the WWF to source sustainable palm oil, P&G has a chequered past with the palm oil it, and its subsidiaries have used.
