If you’re anything like me, daily shaving causes seriously irritated skin. Even with the best quality vegan shaving brushes.

So whilst growing a beard is – of course – cool, it only feels so if it’s smooth, lustrous and ingrown hair-free.

These vegan beard oils are tried, tested and researched by me personally. 100% free-from water (an amazing claim), free-from animal testing and just fantastic quality.

Best value beard oil

Bulldog Original Beard Oil contains aloe vera, camelina oil and green tea. It’s a great everyday use beard oil for normal skin. Not the best oil if you have sensitive or super-irritated skin, but a great product.

One thing to love about Bulldog products is the value. This isn’t a £5.50 beard oil. It doesn’t have the same greasy feel cheaper oils do.

The Body Shop Conditioning Beard Oil

Best moisturising beard oil

The Body Shop Conditioning Beard Oil is one of my favourite beard oils. A top 3 product. Coconut oil just does so well for my skin.

I actually used to just use coconut oil on my face and beard, but the smell was a little sweet for my taste.

Cedar and sage may be the most masculine scent on the list. If you were guessing which product would smell the most masculine, I imagine you wouldn’t pick The Body Shop.

  • £18.95
  • Certified cruelty-free
  • Vegan
  • Cedar and sage scented
  • Best suited for dryer hair and skin

If you’re anything like me, beard growth and quality complexion don’t always go hand in hand.

I have never looked into why, but there’s a certain length of beard that seems to bring with it a few pimples.

As argan oil regulates oil production, preventing clogged pores which stops spots at the source. And the vitamin E and antioxidant rich nature of it gives hair its lustre, protecting from free radical damage.

Jojoba oil soothes irritated skin and even prevents signs of dryness and ageing.

FAQs

Do beard oils do anything?

Beard oils are a cosmetic product designed to improve your beard’s texture, fullness and softness, mitigating oily residue buildup.

Certain beard oils claim to increase hair growth, but this generally is not scientifically proven and should be taken on a case-by-case basis.

How often should I oil my beard?

You should oil your beard 1-2 times per day. Treat it like brushing your teeth.

Adding oil to your beard before bed provides the best bang for your buck as it allows the beard oil to work uninterrupted through the night.

Do oils help your beard grow?

There is very little scientific evidence to support beard oils increasing beard growth. Ultimately you should use beard oil to improve your beard’s quality and shine, rather than speeding up growth.
