Yes, Aveda is cruelty-free, Aveda has been cruelty free since its inception in 1978, and it funds cruelty-free scientific research into breast cancer treatment.
While Aveda has excellent ethics, it is owned by Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder isn’t cruelty free, it sells in China and other territories where animal testing can be mandated by law.

Yes, Aveda is now a fully vegan brand.
It made the vegan switch in early 2021 and has said it will never go back. It used to use quite a lot of beeswax, but is now committed to help saving bees, rather than using the byproducts for profit.
