A side profile of a woman in a russet-colored turtleneck and white bag. She looks up with her eyes closed.

We strive to develop highly biodegradable formulae and we never, ever test on animals.”

— Sanex

Sanex make it very clear that it doesn’t test products on animals

However a company could claim to be cruelty-free – because it doesn’t personally test on animals. But could work with companies within its supply chain who do test on animals.

Whilst it has Natur Protect and Zero % ranges that contain no animal byproducts or derivatives, some of its products contain whey protein and lactose.

Who owns Sanex?

Simple is owned by Colgate-Palmolive, an American multinational consumer products company who own other brands like Palmolive, Tom’s of Maine and Ajax.

Does Colgate-Palmolive Test on Animals? Are They Cruelty-Free?

Whilst Colgate-Palmolive have a small number of cruelty-free brands on their roster – like Tom’s of Maine – , it does test on animalsor are at least complicit in animal testing – as it sells in multiple markets where animal testing is required by law.

Colgate-Palmolive’s official policy reads as such:

In 1999, we declared a voluntary moratorium on all animal testing of our adult Personal Care Products and the ingredients used in these products. This moratorium remains in effect worldwide.

Currently, over 99 percent of internal requests for safety assessment of our products are addressed by using available databases and non-animal alternatives.

Animal testing is only conducted where specifically required by regulatory agencies or where alternative testing methods are unavailable to ensure the safety of our products…

— Colgate Palmolive

Essentially it states that it complies with legal and regulatory requirements in order to condone animal testing.
