Yes, Murad is cruelty free! Murad provides its own guarantee that all products and ingredients are cruelty free, and they are also certified by PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies scheme. It is also a PETA business friend.
Is Murad Vegan?
Murad has a number of vegan products, but the whole range isn’t vegan.
Murad Overview
Murad (founded by Dr. Murad) is one of the top scientific skincare brands around. And it’s totally cruelty free.
The products all target skin health: to help fix issues, maintain wellbeing, or achieve perfection (we can dream eh). The products are on the pricey side, but it is worth paying as they are effective.
Backed up by thousands of online reviews, as well as dermatological tests and – of course- science, it’s worth trying Murad if you haven’t already.
Murad’s Hero Product
The Blemish Control Clarifying Body Spray has become the hero product after being featured on ‘This Morning’. Body acne affects a lot of us (my back always breaks out on holidays) and this product is the answer.
With salicylic acid and glycolic acid working as a power duo – this product works to fight acne and unclog pores – all from a simple spray.

Its website – each product, its ingredients and benefits are clearly explained, with how-to guides and reviews.
Murad’s Company History
Founded by Dr Murad in 1989 – this scientifically-backed, clinical skincare range was born. Dr Murad’s ‘manifesto’ was that ‘skincare is healthcare’. Dr Murad himself has been at the forefront of numerous scientific discoveries in skincare, and is still a firm proponent that skincare isn’t vanity – it’s health.
Murad was founded by Dr Murad. It has since been purchased by Unilever. While Murad is cruelty free, Unilever (the parent company) is not.
Murad products are sold in Hong Kong, but not in China. This means it avoids mandatory animal testing of its products and can be considered cruelty free.
Murad is cruelty free, but not vegan. It has a vegan range (which is expanding), but always check the label if you want to avoid animal by-products.
Dr. Howard Murad is the founder of Murad skincare. Originally from Iraq, but raised in New York, Murad gained medical and pharma qualifications, which were put to use in the Vietnam war, and latterly in his skincare brand: Murad.
