Update, November 2021: We have removed Seven Potions and men-ü from our cruelty-free brands list. This is because we found certain shaving brushes were made using boar hair, which goes against our cruelty-free standards.

Every brand on this list is one I have used and – obviously – loved. From bathroom essential staples, to more luxurious, organic-based products this list has something for everyone.

Table of Contents

1. Harry’s

Arguably my favourite cruelty-free brand of all-time, Harry’s just creates the best quality bathroom essentials.

From beautiful, eco-friendly razors to the best quality shampoo and shower gel I have ever used, the product quality speaks for itself.

You can signup for a subscription service or just purchase singular items including:

  • Razors
  • Travel wash sets
  • Washbags
  • Face washes, toners and cleansers – skincare bundles even
  • Hair gels, putties and waxes
  • Scented candles now too

It’s very much the modern man’s cruelty-free pace-setter in my eyes.

2. Bulldog

One of the early adopters of quality skincare and toiletries for men, Bulldog have been a long-time staple in my home.

In my early years, the shampoos, gels and skincare were appreciated, but never loved. Mainly because I took it all for granted. And the beard oil is a real favourite of mine.

But actually Bulldog were pioneers on the male grooming scene. And the products have always been good quality at a reasonable price:

  • Haircare
  • Shower care
  • Skincare
  • Toiletries
  • Shaving kits

And its ever-expanding skincare range has really looked towards the modern man. I don’t remember brands selling face serums, toners and masks aimed at men. So it’s a welcome change and an interesting evolution.

3. Mancave

Another reasonably priced, cruelty-free grooming brand that creates excellent products.

Mancave Discovery Set

For me, Mancave have been a more recent dive into the world of male grooming. I don’t think I knew it was cruelty-free until relatively recently. But I loved the minimalist branding from day 1. The products smell fantastic and ooze cruelty-free quality.

  • Skincare
  • Beard care
  • Haircare
  • Shower care

It really prioritises ethical and environmental standards. The ‘free-from’ tag encapsulates almost any chemical you’ve come across – parabens, sulfates, dyes, petrochemicals et al.

And all the new tubes and bottles are made from Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic and are completely recyclable.

4. Rockface

Again another more recent addition to our cruelty-free list, Rockface claim to ‘simplify skincare.’ And I’d agree. I don’t normally agree with nonsense brand statements, but it arguably has the simplest product range to choose from.

And to me that’s a good thing. I can’t stand ridiculously huge product lists. Or menus at restaurants.

So when you shop at Rockface, it’s simple. You need a deodorant? Brilliant there are 2 options. A face wash? Exactly the same.

  • Toiletries
  • Skincare
  • Haircare
  • Shower care
  • Shaving kit

Everything is vegan friendly, free-from microbeads and parabens. Everything is even manufactured in the UK. I lvoe the outdoorsy vibe it gives off too.

5. Billy Jealousy

I first came across Billy Jealousy when hunting for beard care products. It has featured in GQ, Esquire, Forbes and Men’s Fitness amongst others, so has certainly received some critical acclaim.

All its formulations are free-from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and animal testing. Which I love, of course. But I also love how carefully created and curated all of the products are.

The heard balms and oils are packed full of moisturising ingredients like jojoba oil and aloe vera. Of salon quality. So whilst it’s an everyday brand for everyday men, the quality doesn’t align to the message. It’s far better.

  • Shaving kit
  • Beardcare
  • Haircare

The American flag branded products are probably slightly too much for me, but I’m arguably too British.

6. Neal’s Yard

Really a classic on the cruelty-free list – although not necessarily famed for it’s male grooming products – Neal’s Yard are pioneers in cruelty-free, natural skincare.

Neal's Yard Men's Skincare Products

And although its product offering has diversified in recent years – see cheese, restaurants and aromatherapy course – the core offering stays the same.

Organic, all-natural products that try to minimise the impact each product has on the environment.

All the male products are no different:

  • Skincare
  • Aftershave
  • Shower gels, shampoos and soaps
  • Nutritional products – herbal teas, energy supplements etc

And Neal’s Yard will always feature highly on our lists for 2 primary reasons.

Firstly because the products are always excellent quality. Secondly because it is a carbon neutral certified company, Soil Association certified organic and Leaping Bunny certified.

7. Dr. Bronner’s

Leaders of the organic and fair trade movement(s), Dr. Bronner’s is a cruelty-free brand with arguably the most interesting backstory.

With Jewish – German soapmaking roots that exploded into the cultural mainstream with the 60s / 70s hippy movement. Dr. Bronner’s rise to popularity coincided with the company’s radical stance(s) and ability to stand up for what it believes in.

Powerful stuff. Although potentially not quite as powerful as the range of fair trade, all-natural products, including:

  • Soaps
  • Toothpaste
  • Mouthwash
  • Lip balms

Vegan (apart from the lip gloss). Organic. Fair trade. Leaping Bunny certified. Non-GMO certified. Not the most ‘masculine’ or product ranges but who wants to conform to yesterday’s standards anyway.

8. Battle Green

Battle Green very recent addition to my favourite brands. And with good reason.

Battle Green Gift Box

The range of eco-friendly, zero-waste everyday products have really helped us cut down on traditional plastic-based items.

The all-natural deodorants are a personal highlight and whilst the brand isn’t male specific, my bathroom always has at least one Battle Green product in it.

  • Zero waste starter kits – plastic and waste-free boxes for your bathroom, kitchen and haircare
  • Bamboo toothbrushes
  • Ceramics – hand thrown too
  • Organic cotton gift wraps

FSC and Leaping Bunny certified. Everything handmade in the UK. If you’re looking to cut down on your plastic-consumption, Battle Green is a tremendous place to start.

9. Faith in Nature

Another cruelty-free staple in our household, Faith in Nature‘s range of all-natural beauty and grooming products really do put nature first. It has certainly made choosing household and bathroom items easy.

It even does the below products for your pets!

  • Soaps
  • Shampoos, body wash and shower gels
  • Washing-up liquid
  • Laundry detergent and fabric-softener

Every product is 100% recycled and recyclable. Leaping Bunny certified. Completely vegan and biodegradable. And whilst the brand isn’t entirely plastic-free, there’s a plastic-free section on the site to help you cut down.

And almost every available product has a 5l refill option. And yes that’s great to cut down on waste. But it’s even better if you are as lazy as I am and like to avoid unnecessary shopping at all costs.

10. Salt of the Earth

If you’re in the market for quality, cruelty free deodorant, hand wash and foot sprays (I know athlete’s foot is unglamorous, but it happens) you cannot do better than Salt of the Earth.

The deodorants are all aluminium, paraben and alcohol-free. So no room for irritated skin which is great if your armpits suffer like mine with traditional anti-persps.

Deodorant-wise it has your:

  • Sprays
  • Roll-ons
  • Crystals
  • Balms
  • Sticks
  • And plastic-free options

An almost overwhelming overload But personally going for roll-ons over sprays is sensible as roll-ons are better for the environment. And if you run, cycle and partake in activities that stink up feet, the foot spray is a must.

As are the refills!

As a completely vegan, Soil Association and Leaping Bunny certified brand, you’re in safe, sweat-free hands.

11. Every Man Jack

Naturally derived. Outdoor inspired.

Everyman Jack Body Wash Sets

That’s the message from cruelty-free brand Every Man Jack. I initially tried the brand to try some new body wash and showering apparatus. Wasn’t at all disappointed as the scents and fragrances are right up my alley.

Sandalwood. Citrus scrubs. Sea salt. Oak. Mint. The outdoorsy theme is so strong and if you create anything woody, smoky and citrussy I’m yours.

Additional product details as such:

  • Recycled and recyclable packaging
  • Chemical-free – all the bad ones at least
  • No parabens. No phthalates. No dyes. No aluminum

Most of the products are vegan, but the brand is not vegan certified so do check every label.

12. grüum

Clean skincare, haircare and shaving solutions for men and women. grüum really reminds me of Harry’s – which is an enormous complement.

The products are so well designed. Really sleek and premium looking. And we love that there are environmentally-friendly options available. You can opt for shampoo and soap bars to conserve waste.

Anywhere where you can buy anti-dandruff shampoo bars and bamboo toothbrushes that actually look good is always going to be a winner.

  • Shaving equipment
  • Beard care
  • Sun cream
  • Haircare
  • Dental care

A British brand we love, making a positive impact!

13. Green People

Natural, organic beauty and wellbeing products made with incredibly high quality ingredients.

Green People Male Grooming Products

Whilst cruelty-free evangelist Green People aren’t a male specific brand, it has a great selection of cruelty-free male products. And I’d argue Green People’s skincare may be the best quality in the male market.

grüum itself is:

  • Leaping Bunny certified
  • Most products are vegan – but some products contain beeswax so check the label
  • Organic
  • Soil Association certified

A UK born and manufactured brand from the heart of Sussex – the county where yours truly grew up – who have played a significant role in regulatory change.

In 1999 the Soil Association invited Charlotte – the owner of Green People – to be on the committee and to set the standards required for organic beauty.

14. Weleda

Weleda is an all-natural, cruelty-free skincare, babycare and homeopathy brand that has – in more recent times – launched a male grooming section.

But don’t let that put you off! The products are all NATRUE certified and the male shaving and skincare range is perfect if you suffer from irritated skin using other products.

And actually if you take the time to read the page on male skincare, the expertise just comes pore-ing out. It’s a small, high-quality set of aftershaves, balms and deodorants made from quality products.

  • Certified cruelty-free
  • Not every product is vegan, so check each ingredient list carefully
  • 100% natural certified
  • 80% certified organic
  • Free from mineral oil, parabens, silicones and PEGs
  • And synthetic fragrances, GM ingredients and microplastics

It has also recently partnered with Treesisterswho fund tropical reforestation projects focusing on initiatives run by women – to work in tandem in planting 1 million trees.

Zeen is a next generation WordPress theme. It’s powerful, beautifully designed and comes with everything you need to engage your visitors and increase conversions.
