Aveeno is not cruelty-free or vegan. The brand is complicit in animal testing as it sells products where animal testing can be mandated by law and it uses animal byproducts as ingredients.

Does Aveeno Sell Products in China?

Yes Aveeno sells its products in mainland China where animal testing can be required by law – in either pre or post production.

Chinese laws dictate that some imported beauty products are submitted for animal testing before they can be approved for sale. 

UPDATE: Whilst we cannot now claim that countries involved in selling products in China can be cruelty-free, China’s animal testing policy is no longer as black and white is it seemed.

Aveeno claim to be against animal testing. But ultimately it sells it’s products in countries where animal testing is required by law and don’t stack up to legitimately ethical brands. 

Is Aveeno Vegan?

Whilst Aveeno does have a few – albeit not many – vegan products, it cant be classified as a purely vegan brand as it has a number of animal-derived ingredients in its products including:

  • Honey
  • Lanolin: a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals
