There are some relatively stringent criteria when it comes to eco-friendly, cruelty-free and vegan products. The product must be made from reusable, sustainable ingredients.
The packaging must be plastic-free or at least 100% recyclable – and made from recycled materials to some extent. And of course we prioritise animal welfare. As these brands do to.
So from bath salts to deodorants we have your, eco-friendly ethical shopping covered.

The Best Vegan Eco-Friendly, Cruelty-Free Shaving Products
Bulldog’s Bamboo Razor
Finally Bulldog’s Bamboo Razor is just an excellent, reusable shaving option.
Whilst I absolutely cannot get behind their attempt at branding this product – check it, less plastic & ting – will forever be the most soul-crushing attempt at humour. Anything you can do to reduce your plastic consumption is a step in the right direction.
Whilst the packet contains 2×5 steel cartridges, we’d recommend stocking up on some spare blades and a razor stand too.
You can read our review of Bulldog here.
- £12
- Vegan
- Environmentally friendly inks
- Recyclable packaging (and product)
Bulldog also feature prominently in our favourite cruelty-free shaving products for men too.
The Best Vegan Sustainable Cruelty-Free Shampoo
Faith in Nature Shampoo Bars
And I was equally sceptical about shampoo bars. But actually the quality of the products Faith in Nature creates really took me by surprise. The Argan and Shea Bar is my personal favourite.
Although the Lavender and Geranium is a close second.
I knew the environmental benefits were great. The lack of packaging – particularly plastics – for one. But I thought using a soap-like bar just wouldn’t nourish or clean my hair like I needed it to. Which, on further inspection, is wrong.
And this is part of FiN’s zero waste range. The packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable, which is absolutely perfect for 2021.
- £5.79
- 85g
- Vegan
- Paraben, sulfate and petrochemical-free
- 100% Recycled and Recyclable
Battle Green Shampoo & Conditioner Set
Battle Green’s Zero Waste Shampoo Set is a travel and bathroom essential in our house. It contains:
- Natural solid shampoo bar (citrus, mint or lavender teat tree)
- Solid conditioner bar
- Two travel tins
- Comb
And shampoo and haircare is another industry totally dominated by plastic products. And it’s so encouraging to have cruelty-free, plastic-free – even zero waste – alternatives.
- £18.95
- 50g + 55g
- Vegan
- Paraben, sulfate and petrochemical-free
- 100% Recycled and recyclable
- Zero waste
Beauty Kitchen Shampoo Bar
Beauty Kitchen’s The Sustainables Intense Moisture Shampoo Bar (wordy) is a completely natural, plastic-free alternative to traditional hair washing.
The Coconut and Cocoa scent is entirely unique. And it’s ability to lock in moisture is better than any other bar on this eco-friendly list.
- £7.50
- 50g
- Cruelty-free – Leaping Bunny certified
- Vegan
- Completely compostable packaging
- It does contain sustainable palm-oil
- Harmful chemical-free
- Manufactured in the UK
Each shampoo bar saves the equivalent of 2 plastic bottles. And you can even send any packaging back to Beauty Kitchen and it will reuse each and every bit.
We would highly recommend Beauty Kitchen’s Conditioner Bar on top of this too.
Eco Warrior Citrus Shampoo Bar
For a slightly more masculine shampoo bar we recommend trying Eco Warrior’s Citrus Shampoo.
It’s a 100% plastic-free, made in the UK organic soap bar with citrus essential oils that smell incredible. OK so it’s not any more manly. Sue me.
As a vegan brand who specialise in products that reduce your impact on the environment (and animals!), it is certainly one to watch.

The Best Vegan Sustainable Cruelty-Free Soap, Bath & Body Wash
Faith in Nature Body Wash Refill
Ever since we made the switch to larger shampoo refills we wondered why we didn’t do it sooner. It just makes sense doesn’t it. You want to reduce your waste and plastic consumption. Buy larger products. Particularly if you get them delivered.
And Faith in Nature’s 5 Litre Body Wash Refills do just the job. All the scents smell fantastic. We recommend the coconut or the grapefruit and orange.
Made by a climate pledge friendly-company. The all vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free body wash reduces your environmental impact without cutting smelly corners.

Dr. Bronner’s Almond Soap Bar
Arguably the most interesting soap on the list – which I admit still doesn’t sound thrilling – Dr. Bronner’s Almond Soap Bar is a certified organic, fair-trade, subtle scented cleaner.
Packed with organic olive, coconut, jojoba and hemp oils, the wash is rich and luxurious. Particularly for a soap bar.
- £5.49
- 140g
- Certified cruelty-free
- Certified vegan
- Packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles – that is also completely recyclable

The almond scent is reminiscent of marzipan, so if you aren’t a fan of the sweet treat it may not be for you.
If that’s the case Dr. Bronner’s have a lovely lavender scented soap bar you could try.
Plankton Zoos Soap Bar
Save Our Seas Handmade Soap Bar is a plastic-free solution to your hand-washing woes.

Method Designed For Good Hand Wash – Botanical Gardens
It can be really tricky to find a soap-pump solution that isn’t really awful for the environment. Particularly a cruelty-free one.
But Method’s Botanical Garden Foaming Hand Wash is great. It sits neatly – and beautifully – by our kitchen sink. And the plant-based handwash is vegan, biodegradable and made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.

The Hair Movement – Curl Defining Cream
The Hair Movement’s Curl Defining Cream‘s tagline is all about embracing and loving the curl. Designed to eliminate frizz for all hair types and packed full of nourishing ingredients.
You’d be forgiven for thinking it was created by a brand who doesn’t care about the planet. The 100% recyclable packaging would say otherwise.

The Best Vegan Eco-Friendly, Cruelty-Free Deodorant
The Natural Deodorant Co – Deodorant Balm
Natural Deodorant Co’s Deodorant Balm is another all-natural, chemical-free deodorant. But in balm form. Which is very new to us too.
The balm format has such a soothing texture. And – when applied to your skin – almost melts away.
Made from an odour-controlling blend of magnesium oxide and sodium bicarbonate. And whilst the coconut scent is peculiar for deodorant, it’s a really beautiful product.
- £12.50

Salt of the Earth Natural Deodorant
Salt of the Earth make some absolutely brilliant, cruelty-free, eco-friendly deodorants. They’ve made thousands. And The all-natural Crystal Deodorant Stick is the pick of the bunch.
It’s a 100% natural deodorant, that is fragrance and synthetic chemical-free. Even approved by The Vegan Society and the Leaping Bunny Program.

Procoal Natural Deodorant Stick
Arguably the most natural deodorant on the list, Procoals Natural Deodorant Stick is an all-natural, anti-irritant deodorant designed for those with sensitive skin.
Whilst this model is only 50ml, we’ve found it lasts just as long as it’s larger counterparts. An all-natural odour-neutraliser with completely recyclable packaging. And that’s unfortunately that’s unusual for deodorants. It’s difficult to make sure the whole pack can be recycled.
Luckily Procoal have found a way!

The Best Vegan Eco-Friendly, Cruelty-Free Toothbrushes & Dental Products
Georganics Mouthwash Tablets
I love a good mouthwash. But there are certain public appearances that make using the silly substance tricky. Parties. Pub trips. In office meetings – shudder.
But in steps Georganics Mouthwash Tablets. All-natural, mouth and breath freshening tablets designed for on-the-go mintiness.
Made with natural, food grade and non-toxic ingredients, the spearmint flavour is zingy and, fortunately, not-at-all synthetic tasting.

Waken Alcohol-Free Spearmint Mouthwash
Ok so not strictly a male grooming product, but aren’t you also tired of mouthwash from big, almost always cruel brands?
I am. Or was. Whatever. And a largely inconsequential relative bought me some Waken Mouthwash as a present – and possibly a hint.
And I was converted. It’s gentle, alcohol-free and doesn’t irritate my gums at all. Highly recommended.

Truthbrush Starter Set
Isn’t Bamboo amazing!
For starters as it grows in natural environments it doesn’t require lengthy, polluting production processes. And it’s cheap – both to produce and buy. With a much lower carbon footprint than it’s plastic contemporaries.
So any products where bamboo has replaced plastic is OK by us. Particularly when these industries – like oral hygiene – are so plastic dominant.
And the Truthbrush Starter Set is an award-winning, fully recyclable and carbon neutral alternative to brushing your teeth you should invest in.
- £17
- Vegan
- Contains fluoride
- Recyclable packaging and product

The tube itself is made out of sugar cane (that captures CO2) and 100% recyclable high density polyethylene. And, probably our favourite part, they removed the little foil seal on the toothpaste tube in 2019 to reduce their waste further. What other brands go that far?

What wonderful product development to come up with something as simple as Reusable Menstrual Pads. Battle Green’s research suggests that the average woman uses between 12 – 16,000 pads in their lifetime. Which is a scary thought.
All you need to do is – once used – pop them in the washing machine and voila.
You can even pick the lining colour – which always seemed like a strange, but fun option to me.

Eco-Friendly, Cruelty-Free FAQs
No eco-friendly doesn’t mean cruelty-free.
Whilst most cruelty-free companies have stricter morals and standards than those who test on animals, it doesn’t mean these brands are also environmentally-friendly.
Not necessarily. But there’s a distinct correlation between companies that refuse to test on animals and the impact to the planet. Primarily because these brands tend to care more about the planet.
