Salt of the Earth is a completely cruelty-free, vegan range of deodorants made by Crystal Spring.
As a Leaping Bunny approved brand, you can be sure the entire supply chain has been rigorously tested to ensure there’s no animal testing.
Is Salt of the Earth Vegan?
Yes, the entire range of deodorants are vegan and cruelty-free.
Certified by The Vegan Society, there are no products containing any animal byproducts in the range of deodorants and hand washes.
Is Salt of the Earth Eco-Friendly?
Yes Salt of the Earth deodorants are eco-friendly. They score very well on the Ethical Consumer’s guide to deodorant.
Firstly the packaging is completely recyclable and made from a mixture of bioplastics and HDPE. Whilst it isn’t made from completely recycled material, Crystal Spring are working towards new packaging.
Secondly it offers a completely plastic-free range of deodorants. So you really can minimise your plastic consumption.
Thirdly the company partners with Ecologi – a tree planting company helping brands go carbon neutral – and have planted over 1,000 trees. Which isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a small, UK-based company!
Finally – and possibly most importantly – being an all-natural, free-from deodorant brand means no aluminium and triclosan amongst other chemicals. Traditional spray deodorants are actually one of the worst emitters when it comes to noxious compounds.
- Aluminium
A compound that gets absorbed by the skin and has been linked to multiple diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer’s. Although not officially proven.
However the production process including aluminium has led to the build of the chemical in bodies of water, root systems and plant matter. This buildup can irreparably damage an ecosystem and is best avoided.
- Triclosan
Triclosan – an antibacterial and anti-fungal agent present in many consumer products – has penetrated into water systems across the USA and can cause irreparable damage to ecosystems.
There have also been multiple studies detailing adverse side effects of triclosan, so definitely one to avoid.

Salt of the Earth Hero Product
It’s always best to choose a roll-on deodorant over a spray when it comes to environmental impact. For musky, woodier scent-fans, the Pure Armour Vetiver and Citrus roll-on is a personal favourite.
For more floral scented fans among us, the Peony Blossom roll-on is beautiful.

But Salt of the Earth’s deodorant can last for up to 24 hours. But I’d say 16 hours is about right.
No, Salt of the Earth deodorant is free-from all harmful chemicals that can de-stabilise and disrupt ecosystems and runoff into rivers.
